Yuman Hordijk
PhD student
Yuman has been interested in chemistry from a young age, with dreams of becoming a scientist one day. He became interested in computational chemistry, statistics and programming while doing his bachelor project with prof. Paola Gori-Giorgi of the TC group and following courses from the TheoCheM group. He joined the TheoCheM group during his master's studies to do his thesis on the topic of machine learning combined with DFT. Currently, he is doing his PhD with dr. Trevor A. Hamlin in this same research area, working towards a truly ‘smart’ AI to better understand and predict catalyzed organic reactions.
In his free time, Yuman likes to solve interesting programming problems, lift weights at the gym and eat weird things at restaurants.
