Steven Beutick

Steven Beutick grew up in Amsterdam and finished both his B.Sc. and M.Sc. Chemistry at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and the University of Amsterdam. In 2021, he obtained his MSc in molecular sciences with a thesis focusing on understanding the interaction of solvent molecules and dynamics on Sn2 reactions, supervised by prof. dr. Hamlin and prof. dr. Meijer. Currently, he is pursuing a collaborative doctoral program in Molecular Sciences between Università degli Studi di Padova and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam under the supervision of prof. dr. Laura Orian and prof. dr. Bickelhaupt. He focuses on exploiting the computational approaches to pinpoint the factors behind the reactivity and selectivity of various fundamental reactions in the context of protein functionalization and bioorthogonal chemistry.
