Celine Nieuwland

Celine grew up in the famous Bulb Region of the Netherlands before moving to Amsterdam to study chemistry. In 2020, she started as a PhD candidate at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam under the guidance of Professors Célia Fonseca Guerra and F. Matthias Bickelhaupt. She received her doctorate with the distinction cum laude in June 2024. Currently, she is a postdoctoral researcher in the TheoCheM group, focusing on the bonding mechanisms in supramolecular systems, ranging from DNA assemblies to metal complexes. In her free time, Celine enjoys CrossFit, Olympic weightlifting, writing, and taking care of her adorable kitten, Mickey.
